THE CREDIT UNION DIFFERENCE
As a nonprofit financial institution, we evaluate our success by the community development impact we have in the communities we serve. As of December 31, 2010 Self-Help had invested nearly $6 billion in financing to almost 72,000 families, individuals, and organizations. View the recent Self-Help IMPACT STATEMENT.

Our "Move Your Money" section provides instructions and forms to help you make the switch.

ABOUT CHOICE COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION
Choice is a member-owned financial institution. Membership in Choice Community Credit Union gives you ownership in the Credit Union and the right to vote at the annual meeting of Self-Help Credit Union. Chartered in 1979 as Burlington Employees’ Federal Credit Union (BEFCU), we officially opened for business on January 2, 1980, with 27,000 members. Eventually, membership was broadened to include anyone who lives, works, or worships in Guilford County. We became Choice Federal Credit Union once in 1988, and again, briefly, in 2009. On January 1, 2010, Choice merged with Self-Help Credit Union, becoming Choice Community Credit Union, a division of Self-Help Credit Union.
ABOUT SELF-HELP
Self-Help
Founded in 1980, Self-Help is a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization. The mission of Self-Help is to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity through four key community development pursuits including the management and operation of full service credit union branches, community development lending that focuses on providing mortgage and small business loans, affordable housing development and downtown revitalization projects, and critical research to advance fair and responsible lending practices.
OUR MISSION
We are a nonprofit community development financial institution that serves the financial needs of our members. Membership in our credit union is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the county or counties of our service area. As a division of Self-Help Credit Union, we also promote the mission of Self-Help Credit Union, which is to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity for all, especially people of color, women, rural residents and low-wealth families and communities.
